Our Sweet Baby Zane is back (finally).

As part of his 2-month checkup yesterday, he was stuck in the leg FIVE times. I am totally on board with preventing the reemergence of epidemic diseases that are totally preventable, but, yesterday afternoon, I questioned our decision to vaccinate our sweet, angelic baby boy.

The poor heart was so out of sorts, and the worst part was he had no idea WHY he was so upset. He looked so pitiful, it was heartbreaking. Peegie and I, of course, knew why he was fussy and crying, so we were reduced to spoiling him with lots of naptime, lots of holding, lots of sleeping on our chests and lots of soft crooning of blessings into his sweet little ears.

It worked. He nursed very well last night at bedtime, and he slept very well. When we awakened at 6:30AM, Baby Z was all smiles and sweetness again.

Score one for the benefits of attachment parenting.

So glad that all is well for you guys there. Those shots ALWAYS hurt the parents more than the baby!! He is a blessed little boy to have such a loving mom and dad!! And don't worry, my theory is that you can't spoil an infant---hold him and cuddle him as much as you want---he soon won't want you in the same room!!! They DO grow up eventually and become those cantankerous tennagers!! Spoil him! At least till he is two! Kisses from Aunt Ellen!!

Hi Auntie Ellen! Peegie and I agree with you about not being able to spoil an infant. We just hold him and love on him as much as we can! Z seems to really love it, as he is very content and seems to be confident in his trust of us. I KNOW it makes a difference in how he sleeps!! xxoo

The worst part of shots for me was the lying on the table, and you are holding them, and they are smiling at you (not having a clue that they are about to get shots) -I always felt so deceptive. :(

OW AND DOUBLE OW!!! 5 at one time. Doesn't seem quite fair to use that many needles on a baby in one day but maybe the more they use the faster they get them all done. It does help knowing that the disease that is being prevented is 1000 times worse than the shot BUT I still hate it. Glad I don't have to take him for them. xoxo

Jeremiah and I take turns taking the kids in for shots because it's too horrible to have endure twice in a row. He's really good about it, but I will do anything to have to miss my turn. I have a way of scheduling important meeting at work during those hours...
