The Dental Floss Incident

A boatload of toys (and I mean that literally...Zane's toybox is an actual boat...) and what does Zane choose to play with? Dental floss. The special dental floss. Woven. With fluoride. For sensitive teeth. The $3.59-a-box special dental floss.
His mission, seemingly, was to remove all of said floss from the box; and he succeeded.

I can't really complain, though; he happily amused himself while I dressed for work. It was all pretty cute actually.

I'm now a morning person. It happened when Zane was born, and my attention to my new son was required at every hour - not just after 10:00am. Even so, I still cannot make an 8:00am meeting. It's not for lack of trying, because I have tried everything. As I drove to the Capitol this morning, I figured out why. Stress. Every day I use a breast pump to express mother's milk so that Zane will be properly nourished while in daycare. This is not an easy task: Challenge #1 : find 20-30 uninterrupted minutes - twice - during a Session day. Challenge #2 : find an empty room in the Capitol with both an electrical outlet and a door that closes and locks Challenge #3 : hope that the availability of the empty room coincides with the 20-30 uninterrupted minutes - twice Challenge #4 : try to relax as the breast pump screams " WHACK-o ," and lobbyists are knocking on said locked door, so that the milk will "let down" and the pumping session will yield at LEAST 3 ounces....

Sweet Baby Zane

Peegie and I are having so much fun with our little buddy! EVERYONE warned us that he would grow faster than we can blink, but we really had no idea just HOW FAST "fast" really is...we can hardly believe he will be eight weeks old tomorrow! Our days are filled with smiles and coos, and our nights are filled with sweet baby sleep sounds and (usually) seven total hours of sleep. Here are two photos from the last week: Bathtime with Pop. Zane adores his Pops, and Peegie adores his little buddy. We are THRILLED that he seems to be a water baby! To be fair, we are extremely proud (and biased...) parents; but, have you ever seen a more beautiful child?? We are just smitten with our sweet baby Zane!
