Say what you will about my Gator Mania...

Florida is the first school to hold National Championships in both college basketball and college football simultaneously. Moreover, the 2007 basketball championship is historic in its own right: this team is the first to win back-to-back championships with the same starting lineup. They dissed the NBA's riches for a shot to repeat as National Champs. They got what they wanted - and HOW!

It's a great time to be a Gator in Tallahassee. I can't WAIT for Gator Day at the Capitol!

I attended a non-sporting art and medicine school. We don't even have a football team...so I was just excited when VCU beat Duke even though it ended up being meaningless. At least I got to hear John Feinstein make mention of my alma mater. Whew-hoo! Go Rams! (I think we're the Rams...)

Doing My Best

I'm now a morning person. It happened when Zane was born, and my attention to my new son was required at every hour - not just after 10:00am. Even so, I still cannot make an 8:00am meeting. It's not for lack of trying, because I have tried everything. As I drove to the Capitol this morning, I figured out why. Stress. Every day I use a breast pump to express mother's milk so that Zane will be properly nourished while in daycare. This is not an easy task: Challenge #1 : find 20-30 uninterrupted minutes - twice - during a Session day. Challenge #2 : find an empty room in the Capitol with both an electrical outlet and a door that closes and locks Challenge #3 : hope that the availability of the empty room coincides with the 20-30 uninterrupted minutes - twice Challenge #4 : try to relax as the breast pump screams " WHACK-o ," and lobbyists are knocking on said locked door, so that the milk will "let down" and the pumping session will yield at LEAST 3 ounces....

Sweet Baby Zane

Peegie and I are having so much fun with our little buddy! EVERYONE warned us that he would grow faster than we can blink, but we really had no idea just HOW FAST "fast" really is...we can hardly believe he will be eight weeks old tomorrow! Our days are filled with smiles and coos, and our nights are filled with sweet baby sleep sounds and (usually) seven total hours of sleep. Here are two photos from the last week: Bathtime with Pop. Zane adores his Pops, and Peegie adores his little buddy. We are THRILLED that he seems to be a water baby! To be fair, we are extremely proud (and biased...) parents; but, have you ever seen a more beautiful child?? We are just smitten with our sweet baby Zane!
